Not all memes this week.

Hello again. We’re back to look at/think about some things that have come across my Facebook feed this past week. The first picture I want to look at today is one that was originally posted by a Facebook page called Books Rock My World. It came up in my memories for March 1, 2017, and I re-posted it this year. The picture is of a coffee mug with the saying “Please do not annoy the writer, she may put you in a book and kill you” on it. I laugh every time I see this one because I have based several characters on people who have annoyed me, and most have died horrifically. This link to the picture can be found here. I re-post this one when I see it.

The second picture I want to discuss today is one of those Twitter quotes on Facebook. It was originally posted by a Facebook called TBOT on March 1, 2019. It made me laugh, it still makes me laugh. It says, “my english professor walked into class, saw algebra on the boardand yelled, ‘oh, what the f*** is this, get me an eraser before I pass out.’” This one is funny to me because I had a professor do this, but with French instead of algebra. The link for the picture is here.

The third picture I want to look at today is a meme with text only. It was posted on March 1, 2019 by a Facebook page called Oldtimers, and it says, “I finally did it! Bought a new pair of shoes with memory foam insoles. No more forgetting why I walked into the kitchen.” When I posted this one, I commented, “If only this worked. Especially at work.” Because I am constantly forgetting why I went into the back room at Waffle House. The link for this one can be found here.

The last picture I want to look at today is a meme with the background of a bunch of M&M’s. It was posted by a Facebook user named Lavinia Urban. The text on the meme reads, “Fighting over race is like fighting over your favorite color of M&M’s. They’re all made of the same thing and thinking they’re not makes you look stupid.” My grandchildren are biracial and I don’t like the negativity they experience because of the bigots in this world. So this meme hits close to home. I hope one day someone will read it and understand the deeper meaning. The link for this meme is here.

The final thing I want to discuss this week is not a meme, it’s an event. On March 23, 2019 the Port Arthur Public Library will be re-opening its doors at 2 pm for the first time since August of 2017. The link for the event can be found here. I am so excited. The PAPL shared this event yesterday on their Facebook page, and I shared it as soon as I saw it.

Time for the rhetorical situation of the week. If you guessed we were talking about the library again, you’re right. I feel that the re-opening of the library will benefit the citizens of Port Arthur and surrounding areas greatly. I plan to be there at some time that afternoon. Letting the Facebook public know about the event is a good way to inform the general public, because the news of the grapevine travels fast around here. We need to let people know that the library is here again to support the city and the citizenry with whatever they have to offer. I hope this helps our area heal more from the effects of Harvey.
