I made progress on my WIP yesterday. I remembered my professor said you should begin with the inciting incident. Mine was in Chapter Three. Now, it’s in Chapter One. I realized that I was focusing so much on building up the characters and the world that I forgot about the story.
I also added a few more chapters. By which I mean that I broke the first chapter into smaller chunks. Each separate group gets its own chapter. Hopefully, it cuts down on the confusion and helps the reader understand that this is not the same group of people.
Now that I’m not stuck in the ‘before the story begins’ phase, I will be able to tell more of the actual story involving the humans and dragons I’m writing about. Yes, I said dragons. They are so much more fun than elves, dwarves, and all the rest of the fantasy creatures! Of course, I’ll get to the elves, dwarves, and others in due time. We’re beginning with humans and dragons for this story, though. And the next three stories at least.

This is goodbye for this post. My next topic will be the mundaneness of the Humans of my world. I’ll see you then!
